You'll love the stylish looks and slipper-like feel of Specialized's Women's Sonoma Shoes. They're the perfect pair of do-it-all cycling footwear, crafted from suede leather in a women’s-specific fit. They sport Specialized's comfort-tuned Body Geometry ergonomics, stiff, internal plates for efficient pedaling and protection, and grippy rubber outsoles for traction when walking. These shoes also accept recessed cleats for use with clipless pedals (sold separately).
I am just starting out as a cyclist and was advised to buy mountain biking shoes as they are easier to walk in, but tend to be bulkier than road biking shoes. I found that the Sonoma is a good middle ground between the two, as the sole is padded but streamlined, so there is walkability without excess bulk.
The biggest issue that I encountered when searching for shoes is that I a ma woman with a wide toe box, plump toes and narrow heels; whereas most cycling shoes are made for narrow feet. I generally wear a size 9 shoe (40) and the wide toe box and narrow heel tends to make size 9.5 too large. I had tried Shimanos previously, and found the size 40 to be a little tight in the upper part of my toe box, and the 41 to be slightly too large. The Specialized Sonomas in size 40 (9) fit very comfortably.
Bottom LineYes, I would recommend this to a friend
